Processing BackerKit Charges
almost 7 years ago – Wed, Feb 07, 2018 at 01:08:08 PM

I have never processed the charges for BackerKit as I was waiting till I got closer to production. I am there now, and BackerKit is pressuring me to process those in the cue now. This is a notification that if you added on to your Kickstarter campaign, you should see that draft from your accounts. I just didn't want to surprise anyone.

Communication is key.

One piece of advice from Kickstarter to a campaign creator is to keep your backers up-to-date. Having failed in that, I have learned a big lesson and ask for your forgiveness. The contract between creator and backer is one of trust; if my actions (or lack thereof) have damaged that trust, I humbly apologize.

After my early-December post, I received a proof of the cards that did not meet my standard for high quality - just prior to USPC's three-week holiday closing. All is now resolved, and I am happy to report the Jane Austen cards are in production.

The contract has been signed with USPC. All arrangements are made with Clove St. Press to print the tuck cases. Art of Play is on board to assemble the tuck cases and for fulfillment. T-shirts are in progress, as are the Austen posters. For the sake of transparency, here is the production schedule as I understand it: once the contract is signed at USPC it takes 6-7 weeks (approximately) for the cards to be printed and packaged. It will take a week to ship by freight from USPC to Art of Play, and 2-3 weeks for final assembly and shipping.

This is well past my initial proposed delivery date, but as I want the very best for this project and for you, the production had to be delayed until the cards were perfect. Everything is now coming along smoothly, if not as quickly as I promised and had hoped.

I am absolutely committed to keeping you fully informed as the card decks and collateral make progress. Everything will be beautiful, and I remain excited. I hope you will, too.

Perhaps it is our imperfections...

Delivery Update.
about 7 years ago – Wed, Oct 25, 2017 at 12:46:56 AM

Thank you for ordering the Jane Austen Cards. The cards are in production at US Playing Cards. As the campaign closed, the sale of my house closed as well, and I had moved to a new city. It took a while for me and my wife to get settled and unpacked. That was rotten timing but I could not avoid that.

The cards are at the US Playing Cards Co in pre-press. The tuck cases are at Clove Street Press and should be printed in the coming three weeks. The t-shirts are at the screen printers, and the Queen and Jack images are out to the printers. At this point, I have been told to expect delivery in about 5 weeks. I am contracting with Art of Play for fulfillment.

I know I am running later than I expected in delivery. This is my first deck and that lack of experience combined with a move combined with production timing means I will be late in delivery but I am hopeful that I will have delivery in time for Christmas gifts, as so many backers have told me they are aiming for.

I believed I'd be able to deliver by the end of October, but it is more likely in the first two weeks of December.

Thank you for your patience.

Please return your surveys if you will.
about 7 years ago – Mon, Oct 02, 2017 at 10:22:33 PM

Good evening all. 441 of you have completed your BackerKits surveys, so thank you for that. But 91of you still need to return them. If you have not gotten a survey from me, please let me know. I can resend it (but maybe you can check your "junk" and "clutter" folders first?). I certainly understand being busy, but these surveys help me to know what I need to order to fill all of your orders. Thank you so much for your help.
